Frequently asked questions
What symptoms or situations might make someone a candidate for hormone replacement therapy (HRT)?
HRT may be a fit if you are experiencing symptoms that suggest a hormone imbalance (such as low energy, hot flashes, changes in mood, brain fog, weight changes, or low libido) or if your goals include supporting cognitive function, metabolic health, muscle mass, and bone density; we also commonly evaluate hormone-related concerns across perimenopause/menopause, PMS, PCOS, thyroid, adrenal, and other related disorders to understand the full picture before recommending any therapy.
How do you monitor HRT over time and adjust dosing?
HRT is managed as an ongoing program with symptom tracking and regular follow-up visits, communication, exams, and lab reviews so dosing and recommendations can be adjusted over time, with the goal of keeping therapy aligned to your response through monitoring.
What does the initial HRT evaluation include and how long does it take to get a plan?
The initial evaluation includes a detailed review of symptoms and medical history focused on hormone-related concerns, an exam as appropriate, and a structured lab assessment. Plans are then tailored to your unique labs, symptoms, and goals, with timing depending largely on how quickly labs are completed and returned.
What are the potential risks, side effects, and contraindications?
HRT can have risks and side effects that vary by hormone type, dose, delivery method, and your personal health history, which is why we provide educational support on risks/benefits and use ongoing follow-ups and lab monitoring to guide dose adjustments and identify issues early. Individual contraindications and monitoring specifics should be discussed during the evaluation.
What types of HRT do you offer (e.g., testosterone, estrogen/progesterone), and what delivery methods are available (injections, creams/gels, oral, patches, pellets)?
We provide personalized bioidentical hormone therapy for women and men, and treatment plans may include bioidentical hormones along with medication and supplement support, tailored to your needs and conditions. We offer all available methods except pellets at this time.
How much does it cost?
Your membership covers visits, follow-ups, and ongoing monitoring, while the cost of labs and hormone medications is not included. We help patients access labs at our negotiated rates or through insurance when available/applicable.
Can I work with you if I'm not located in Colorado?
We can provide care to patients who are physically located in Colorado or Arizona at the time of the visit (including virtual visits). For patients located in Arizona, we currently do not prescribe controlled substances, including testosterone, at this time.
